New method slashes costs for treating water pollution from development projects.
The study aimed to find a better way to estimate and control water pollution from development in watersheds. Instead of using a simple method that overestimates pollution, the researchers suggested a new method based on project types. By applying this new method to housing and dam projects, they found that treating 10-30% of the pollution capacity is more realistic and cost-effective than the previous method that required treating 90%. This approach could help manage water resources more effectively in watersheds.
