Government Subsidies, Not Taxes, Key to Reducing Single-Parent Families.
The number of children raised by single parents has increased since 1965. In the 21st century, more white mothers are having babies out of wedlock than black mothers. In the US, 15-year-olds living with a single parent is 50% higher than in other industrialized countries. Children from single-parent families face challenges in education, social life, and finances. The reasons for the rise in single parenthood are not clear, but factors like education, income, access to contraceptives, crime rates, and teenage pregnancy do not seem to be the main causes.
