Powerful tractors waste fuel - need to be lighter and smarter!
The article examines how engine power and shifting mode affect a tractor's performance in transport operations. Measurements were taken on three tractors with different power levels, all pulling the same load over a set distance. The results show that simply increasing a tractor's power does not necessarily improve its performance; in fact, it can lead to higher fuel consumption without a corresponding increase in efficiency. To make better use of powerful tractors, the study suggests reducing their weight and using trailers with more axles to maximize their potential power for carrying heavier loads.
