Grid-Tied Solar Power System Reduces Costs and Boosts Community Energy
A grid-tied photovoltaic power system connects to the utility grid, providing power to a facility and sending excess power back to the grid. This system helps reduce electricity costs and grid loading during peak demand. Net metering allows customers to receive credit for excess power generated. Modern PV panels are reliable and efficient, lasting at least 25 years. The NASA Hybrid Power Management Program successfully developed grid-tied PV systems, which are maintenance-free and valuable for both NASA and communities.
