By studying successful companies, researchers found that different types of innovation control systems can either support or limit a company's ability to develop new capabilities. Depending on how fast the industry is changing, companies may benefit from either opportunity-driven, counterbalanced, or execution-focused innovation control systems. This study provides guidelines for designing an innovation control system that can help companies thrive in dynamic environments.
