Ozone hole over Antarctica could worsen, threatening life on Earth.
In their study, scientists used computer models to understand why there's a hole in the ozone layer over Antarctica. They focused on chemicals that harm the ozone, freezing out some of them onto particles in the sky. By looking at how certain reactions can harm the ozone during September and October, they realized that chemicals like HCl in polar clouds play a big role in ozone loss. Their findings suggest these reactions are important for the ozone hole formation in Antarctica.
