High-density maize planting with increased nitrogen boosts crop productivity and yield.
The study looked at how different amounts and timings of nitrogen fertilizer affect the growth of maize plants at low and high densities. They found that using more nitrogen and splitting it into multiple applications led to taller plants, larger leaf area, and higher biomass yield. Maize plants grown at high density with 50% more nitrogen than usual produced the best results. This means that adjusting nitrogen levels and application timings can help increase maize productivity.
