New method accurately measures water evaporation, improving agricultural water management.
A new method was used to measure water evaporation at a paddy field in Korea. Instead of manual observation, a device measured the weight of a bar in the water. This method doesn't need calibration because it's not affected by changes in water temperature. The study found that the total evaporation over a specific period was about 50.7mm, which was close to the estimated value of 50.4mm. The evaporation rate was influenced by wind speed and the difference in vapor pressure between the water and the air.
