A new moss species called Dicranoloma steenisii was discovered in Papua New Guinea. It has long, thin leaves, a strong midrib, and lacks certain structures found in related species. This new species is most similar to D. armitii, but can be distinguished by its gradually tapering leaves instead of tightly clustered ones.
