Online group-buying can save buyers money by forming coalitions for discounts. Traditional group-buying focuses on single items, but considering item complementarities can further reduce costs. Two models for combinatorial reverse auctions exist: independent auctions by each buyer or a group-buying approach. A study comparing these models found that group buying combinatorial reverse auctions are more efficient and effective than separate auctions.
