Hormone levels in litchi ovules linked to successful embryo development.
The researchers studied how hormones in litchi ovules affect embryonic development. They found that normal ovules had high levels of IAA, GA 1+3, and ABA on the 7th day after flowering, then decreased. IAA and GA 1+3 increased again later on. Aborted ovules had high ABA levels but low IAA and GA 1+3 levels. CTK content was lower in aborted ovules. Different hormones affected embryonic development at different stages. The ratios of ABA to IAA+GA 1+3 and ABA to CTK were linked to embryonic development.
