Maize thrives on sewage sludge, boosting crop yield and sustainability.
The researchers studied how using sewage sludge as fertilizer affects maize grown for silage. They applied sewage sludge at a regulated dose and compared it to mineral fertilizers. The study found that using sewage sludge led to higher plant productivity compared to mineral fertilizers. Additionally, plants treated with sewage sludge had fewer losses and better cob set up. The researchers also noted no difference in leaf greenness between plants treated with sewage sludge and mineral fertilizers.
