The researchers studied how changes in sediment transport and particle velocity affect riverbed dynamics. They used models to predict sediment transport and particle velocity in the Dutch upper Rhine. Two models were chosen for sediment transport, with one showing better results. For particle velocity, two models were used, with one being more accurate. The thickness of the bedload layer was determined, providing input for a sand-gravel morphodynamic model.
