Using waste as fuel in cement plants reduces environmental impact
Municipal waste can be used as fuel in cement production to reduce environmental impact. A study in Mexico compared using only petroleum coke versus a mix of 20% waste-derived fuel and 80% petroleum coke. The results showed that the co-processing scenario had lower environmental impact in all categories, including resource depletion, acidification, global warming, and more. This means that using waste-derived fuel in Mexican cement plants can help lessen environmental harm and improve waste management.
