Marine Fisheries Census Reveals Need for Sustainable Management Practices.
The Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute conducted a census in 2005 to gather information on marine fish resources, fishing villages, fisherfolk population, and fishing activities in Orissa. The goal was to help manage marine fisheries sustainably. The researchers found that since 1980, there have been changes in the marine fisheries in India, and various interventions have been made to protect fish resources and support artisanal fishermen.
