Constructed wetlands outperform detention ponds in reducing stormwater pollutants.
Constructed wetlands are being compared to detention ponds for managing stormwater pollutants. The study looked at how well each system reduced bacteria and nutrients in stormwater. The wetlands did better than the ponds, but not as well as some other studies have shown for treating wastewater. Overall, the performance of constructed wetlands for stormwater treatment was evaluated based on how the systems worked.
