Rocky intertidal zones in Korea show higher species diversity than soft areas.
The researchers studied the benthic organisms in the intertidal zone of Haenam peninsula in Korea. They found 141 species and 4,641 individuals, with Mollusca, Arthropoda, and Annelida being the most common groups. Rocky areas had more diverse species than soft areas, with Kusong having the most diverse species. More species were found in the spring than in the fall. The dominant species was Cerithideopsilla djadjariensis. The distribution of species was influenced by factors like sediment composition and organic content.
