Continuous cropping and soil type impact plant growth and yield significantly.
Continuous cultivation and soil texture were studied to see how they affect the growth and yield of platycodon plants. The researchers found that as the plants aged, their roots became lighter and more prone to disease. Additionally, the nitrogen and magnesium content in the roots decreased over time. When different soil textures were compared, platycodon plants grown in silt loam had higher shoot weight, root diameter, root height, and root weight compared to other soil types.
