Rice cultivars thrive with Chinese milk vetch, boosting nitrogen content.
The study compared how different types of rice grow in two different farming systems: one with just rice, and one with rice and Chinese milk vetch plants. They found that in the rice-vetch system, the rice plants were shorter but had more nitrogen. However, the total nitrogen in the plants was higher in the conventional system. One type of rice, Pungmibyeo, had the most nitrogen uptake. Overall, the rice yield was higher in the conventional system, with Junambyeo having the highest yield. The rice-vetch system had higher head rice ratio and protein content.
