Figleaf gourd boosts cucumber resistance to cold and low light stress.
Figleaf gourd roots can help cucumber seedlings resist stress from low temperature and low light. During a 5-day low-temperature stress, figleaf gourd seedlings showed better photosynthetic activity than cucumber seedlings. Figleaf gourd had higher antioxidant activity and lower oxidative damage compared to cucumber. Both plants accumulated different mineral elements in their leaves and roots under stress, with figleaf gourd showing more accumulation. Overall, figleaf gourd seedlings were more resistant to low-temperature stress than cucumber seedlings.
