Thawing bovine semen at 35 degrees C significantly boosts post-thaw viability.
The study aimed to find the best way to thaw bovine semen for artificial insemination. Different methods were tested using various extenders and packaging. Thawing at 35 degrees Celsius in a water bath resulted in the highest sperm viability compared to other methods. This means that thawing semen in ampules and straws at 35 degrees Celsius is the most effective way for AI centers to use when specific recommendations are not available.
