A new method was developed to estimate pollution from farm runoff in big watersheds. It uses simple equations to predict runoff and soil loss. The method was tested in a Pennsylvania watershed and found to give good estimates of nitrogen and phosphorus in the water. These simple models can help identify how much pollution is coming from farms and how different farming practices can change this.
