Major Redesign of Survey to Revolutionize Federal Policy Making
The Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP) is a survey that helps federal policy makers and analysts understand things like poverty, government programs, health insurance, and income. The main goal of the survey is to follow a group of households over time to see how their situations change. However, the survey has had some issues with sample size and data availability. To fix this, the Census Bureau is redesigning the SIPP program, using information from the 1990 Census. This redesign aims to make the survey more effective and address past problems.
