Plant with High Proline Content Thrives in Dry Environments
Tephrosia purpurea Pers. was found to have high levels of proline in dry environments. The shoots, especially leaves, had more proline than the roots. Pod walls and young seeds had the highest proline levels. Young leaves had more proline than mature or old leaves. Proline levels increased during leaf aging, then decreased. The plant's high proline content may help it survive better in harsh conditions.
