New bankruptcy legislation in Russia cracks down on unscrupulous debtors.
The new federal legislation on insolvency (bankruptcy) in Russia has introduced innovative provisions to address issues with the previous law that protected dishonest debtors. The criteria for bankruptcy now consider a debtor's financial obligations and payments to the budget. When a debtor is declared bankrupt by an arbitrazh court, receivership begins. The new law also includes bankruptcy regulations for individuals who are not entrepreneurs.
