The study calculated the economic impact of the Port of Santander in 2005 by analyzing its direct, indirect, and induced effects on the city, Cantabria, and its surrounding areas. This is the first time the impact on the city and its hinterland has been quantified, as previous studies only focused on the region. The findings show that the port and the companies using its facilities significantly contribute to the creation of value and employment in the area.
