The article argues for a single European tax to harmonize tax policies among member states. Despite challenges, progress has been made in this direction. The goal is to establish a uniform tax system that meets budgetary, efficiency, and equity criteria. While VAT levels are still not harmonized, income tax and tax on benefits could potentially become part of a uniform European tax with unanimous agreement from member states.
