The Total Variance Approach was used to improve the estimation of the Modified Allan Variance for different types of noise. By extending data sequences and applying a specific procedure, the approach reduced uncertainty in the results and decreased bias. Through simulation studies, it was found that the new estimate of the Modified Allan Variance showed an increase in equivalent degrees of freedom at certain integration times.
