Hanford Site makes strides in treating and disposing defense waste.
The Hanford Site in Washington State deals with various types of waste, including radioactive and hazardous materials. They have made progress in storing, treating, and disposing of these wastes, such as incorporating low-level liquids into a grout matrix for disposal and characterizing single-shell tank waste. They have also built new facilities and are designing a Waste Vitrification Plant to handle these waste categories.
