Rainfall intensity linked to flood simulation accuracy in new study.
The study looked at how changing the runoff coefficient in a flood simulation model can better reflect the impact of rainfall intensity on flooding. By adjusting the runoff coefficient of the first tank in the model based on rainfall intensity, the researchers found a weak relationship between the two factors. They used a simple delaying parameter to account for delayed responses in the model. The results showed that updating the runoff coefficient based on rainfall intensity led to more accurate flood simulations compared to using a fixed parameter.
