Revolutionizing forage production: Tillage and fertilizer methods boost yields!
The study looked at how different tillage methods and fertilizer application techniques affected the amount of fodder produced in a sorghum/oats rotation. They found that conventional tillage was better than no tillage for both crops. Inter-row cultivation increased sorghum yields when no tillage was used, but not with conventional tillage. Placing fertilizers in bands at different depths also increased sorghum yields. The results suggest that it may be possible to skip tillage when planting oats after sorghum on plots that received conventional tillage.
