Quality over quantity: New approach needed for efficient education systems
The article discusses how a method called Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) can be used to measure the efficiency of schools and universities. However, DEA may not always work well if the assumption of convexity (smoothness) in the technology used by educational organizations is not met. When quality of education is considered, DEA may not accurately show where improvements can be made. In these cases, other tools are needed to assess efficiency, like a different technique and a better way to value educational outcomes. This helps to understand how efficient and effective educational institutions are in providing quality education.
