Romania's Foreign Trade Shifts Amid Global Crisis, Revealing Export Vulnerabilities.
The global crisis has caused big changes in Romania's foreign trade. From 2007 to 2010, Romania saw a shift in the types of goods it imported and exported. Capital goods decreased in imports but increased in exports, while intermediate goods did the opposite. Despite these changes, Romania's competitiveness in trade stayed about the same. The most successful exports were related to processing trade. However, Romania lacks a clear export strategy and policies to help its exporters succeed in foreign markets, especially outside the EU.
