There are around 170,000 medical terms, including names of drugs, body parts, diseases, and procedures. To effectively communicate in the medical field, professionals should know at least 6,000 to 8,000 terms. Each medical specialty also has its own unique terminology, which can be challenging for experts in related fields to understand. The focus of the article is on the history, development, and particularities of German medical terminology.
