Industrial waste boosts wheat yield, saves nitrogen in Himachal Pradesh
A study in Himachal Pradesh tested different industrial wastes to improve wheat and maize yields. Biological sludge increased wheat yield by 16.5% compared to farmyard manure. Residue from medicinal plants was as good as farmyard manure for wheat. Both were better than the control. Combining biological sludge with less nitrogen gave similar maize yields as farmyard manure with more nitrogen, saving 60 kg/ha.
