Soil tillage implements impact soil surface roughness for better seedbeds.
Soil tillage tools like ploughs and harrows affect how rough the soil surface is. Researchers studied different combinations of these tools on heavy soil. They found that using a moldboard plough made the soil surface roughest. The smoothest surface was from using a moldboard plough with a disk harrow and rotary tiller. Working speed didn't make a big difference in soil roughness.
