A study tested 12 late rice varieties in Central and Northern Guangxi in 2008. Most varieties had good maturity and yield. Three varieties, 4050A/R629, Jiayou 1972, and Lianyou 3189, had higher yield and quality than the control. These three are recommended for cultivation in the region. Six other varieties continued testing in 2009, while three were stopped due to lower yield and quality.
