Hungarian agri-food sector boosted by EU investment subsidy scheme.
The Hungarian agri-food sector saw significant changes after the political regime shift in 1990. New agricultural companies emerged, and EU support programs, like the PHARE IPP Project, aimed to boost their competitiveness through investment subsidies. The University of Debrecen played a role in implementing and evaluating this project. Their findings led to improvements in the Ministry of Agriculture's subsidy program, benefiting Hungarian farms and preparing them for EU integration.
