The article discusses a new method for replacing deteriorated bridge decks using precast concrete elements with ultra-high performance concrete joints. These joints are stronger and more durable, leading to improved bridge deck performance. The new design reduces joint size and complexity, speeds up construction, and extends the lifespan of the bridge.
