Groundwater model reveals key zones for improved water management on Bribie Island
Groundwater flow on Bribie Island is influenced by different layers in the sand, affecting how water moves underground. By studying borehole data, researchers found that areas with less hardened layers have higher water flow. A computer model was created to simulate this, showing that zones with more permeable layers allow water to flow more easily, especially in the south, central, and northwest parts of the island. This helps recharge the deeper aquifer below.
