Cheap, abundant coal powers the future, but at what cost?
Coal is a major source of electricity worldwide, but its CO2 emissions need managing. Using coal to generate power is getting cleaner, but controlling CO2 is crucial for its future. To meet rising energy needs, we'll likely use more coal since it's affordable and abundant. A key solution to making coal power cleaner is using Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology. By capturing CO2 and storing it underground, we can greatly reduce the environmental impact of coal-based power. Demonstrating existing CCS tech in action will lead to major improvements, advancing coal power while addressing important environmental concerns.
