Closing Gender Gap in Agriculture Boosts Productivity and Innovation Worldwide
Gender differences in agricultural productivity were examined in this study. It was found that male and female farmers are equally efficient as managers, but women have lower yields due to less inputs and education. Education is important for both men and women in adopting new technologies, with women seeing significant returns on schooling. Providing universal primary education can help female farmers adopt new technologies earlier. Farmers with more education, land, and tools are more likely to adopt new technologies, which may be a challenge for women farmers who have less access to these resources.
