Heated lake environment leads to decline in zooplankton species diversity.
The researchers studied the zooplankton in Lake Gos3awskie's shallow area from 2001-2002. They looked at how environmental factors like temperature, oxygen levels, and macrophytes affected the zooplankton. They found 64 different zooplankton species, with Rotifera and Crustacea being the most common. The species richness and biodiversity were high, with both littoral and pelagic species present. More macrophytes meant fewer zooplankton species, and warmer water also led to a decrease in species. The abundance of zooplankton stayed consistent over the study years, with Rotifera and Copepoda naupli being the dominant groups.
