Architectural glass can't handle heavy loads well due to its thinness, causing too much bending. But by making beams from layers of glass held together by adhesive, we can carry heavier loads over longer distances with less bending. Researchers at the University of Bath are figuring out how to design these T-beams made of toughened glass plates with a thin adhesive layer.
