Sesbania green-manure boosts rice and wheat yields, enriches soil fertility.
The researchers studied how using two types of Sesbania plants as green manure, along with nitrogen fertilizer, affected rice and wheat crops. They found that S. rostrata added the most nitrogen to the soil, leading to the highest yields of rice and wheat. The combination of S. rostrata green manure and nitrogen fertilizer resulted in a positive nitrogen balance in the soil, with rapid nitrogen release during the early stages of crop growth.
