New grape-growing method yields record number of shoots per stem!
Researchers successfully induced multiple shoots from Chardonny grape stem explants by testing different media, hormone concentrations, and dark treatments. Shoots were only induced from stem explants, with an induction frequency of 17.5%. The combination of BA and NAA hormones on the MS medium resulted in the highest frequency of shoot induction (9.7%) and the highest average number of shoots (10.1) per stem. The roots were induced from the shoots on a specific medium supplemented with IAA.
