Late wheat planting in Sindh leads to significant yield reduction.
Late planting of wheat leads to lower grain yield due to reduced tillering period and hot weather during grain filling. A study in Sindh compared different wheat genotypes planted on four dates. Wheat planted in mid-November had the highest yield, followed by early November and early December. The genotype V-7002 had the highest yield overall, while V-7004 had the lowest. Planting wheat in the first half of November gives the best chance for high grain yield, with delays leading to lower yields.
