Integrated weed management boosts rice yield, saves nutrients, and increases profits.
The study looked at different ways to control weeds in upland rice fields to improve growth and save nutrients. By using a mix of herbicides and manual weeding, the researchers were able to reduce weed growth and nutrient depletion in the soil. This method also increased the amount of nutrients taken up by the rice plants, leading to higher yields. The best approach was using a specific herbicide before planting and then weeding manually after 30 days, which resulted in the highest profits and energy efficiency.
