Urban areas expanding can harm native bird populations. This study in Hobart, Tasmania, looked at how different habitats affect bird diversity. Researchers found that native bird species were more abundant in native vegetation areas compared to urban sites. Urban parks had more native species than city centers. Introduced bird species were more common in urban areas. Native birds were linked to native plants and vegetation complexity. Invertebrate populations were similar in urban and native sites.
