Late Wheat Planting Slashes Yields, Threatens Food Security in Bahawalpur
The study looked at how planting wheat late affects its growth and yield. Different wheat types were planted at different times in Bahawalpur. They found that the time of planting and the type of wheat both affected how well the wheat grew and how much grain it produced. Wheat planted on 1 December had the highest yield, producing 4412 kg per hectare. The latest planting on 16 January had the lowest yield at 2197 kg per hectare. Among the wheat types tested, Bhakkar-2002 produced the most grain at 3445 kg per hectare, while MH-97 produced the least at 3185 kg per hectare. Late planting led to lower germination rates and fewer productive tillers, reducing the final grain yield.
